Professor Jerry Greenfield
Endocrinologist and Clinical Researcher | MBBS (Hons), PhD, FRACP
Professor Jerry Greenfield is a consultant endocrinologist and clinical researcher with primary interests in type 1 and type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance and obesity. He also has extensive experience in managing a wide range of endocrine conditions, including thyroid disorders and osteoporosis.
Jerry is Head of Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes Services at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, and also consults at St Vincent’s Private Hospital. He is Head of the St Vincent’s Clinical Campus and Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales.
He completed his PhD at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where he investigated the metabolic and hormonal mechanisms contributing to obesity and insulin resistance. He later undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge as an NHMRC Neil Hamilton Fairley Fellow, working in the Departments of Medicine and Clinical Biochemistry.
Jerry is actively involved in clinical leadership and education, and contributes to ongoing research in diabetes and metabolic health. He is a member of the Editorial Board for Clinical Obesity and serves on the Executive Council of the Australian Diabetes Society.
